You Can Take That To The Bank

We all know the story. Joshua had the Israelites march around the walls of Jericho once a day for six days. On the seventh day they were to march around Jericho seven times and on that seventh time the priests would blow their horns and the people would shout and the walls would fall and Jericho would be theirs.

I think sometimes we fail to read a major detail that boasts in how great of a God we serve. In Joshua chapter 6 verse 2 we see before the Israelites even begin to march, while getting their “marching orders” God says “I have given Jericho into your hands.”

In verse 16, it was the seventh day and they had just marched 7 times around. Joshua tells them to shout, “for the Lord has given you the city.” Even before any fighting had happened the promise has been proclaimed. This city was theirs.

When God tells us that He will give us something we can count on it that it has already been done. Time doesn’t exist with God. He told Joshua days before they marched He has given them the city.

This our God. He fulfills His promises. It’s been said there are 365 promises in the bible, one for every day of the week. I’ve never counted. I’m sure though how many ever there are, God has never broken one of them.
